Why did I said yes!

Ahaana's POV:

Hmm..this aroma...matar paneer...is something special today?

I tried remembering every possible date but being out of clue went downstairs to eat food.I guess it is high time I should stock up some almonds.

"Mumma is something special today?"

"No" Hehe!!I guess almonds can wait.

"Means you made matar paneer just like that"Clue 1! Matar paneer without any special occasions.Something is surely fishy here. Maybe I am not able to catch the fish yet.

"Yes do you wanna eat or just play questions and answers with me?" Clue 2-Way too smiling mom is a cue to some serious trouble. I need to catch the fish soon.

"Umm..no...who am I to question you...by the way this is yummy" I said tasting a piece of paneer from serving bowl.

"Ahuu...how many times do I have to say that don't eat from the bowl or else?"

"Or else" I asked lifting one more piece from bowl but she smacked my hand keeping the piece again in the bowl.

"Or else it will rain heavily on your wedding day"

"Common mumma nothing like that will happen, it's all your superstition."

"Ok don't tell me that I didn't warn you before"

While talking to mumma I saw Nitya coming from her extra classes.

"Hi sissy..how was your day?"

"Don't ask di...I am damn tired to walk also"

"Nitya beta go freshen up...then we will do dinner together. Your papa is also freshening up." Said mumma

"Alright mumma"

"Ahaana" papa spoke. I guess fishes would come to me on their own now.

"Yes papa...you wanna say something" I asked him as I was observing he was quite for a long time after he came back home.

"Ahaana beta..you are a grown up now..and I am very proud of you for what you have achieved...you are the best gift from God I could ever ask for"

"Papa what happened? You look troubled" But I think now I am in serious trouble.Calm down Ahu.

"Ahu....papa is saying it is time for your marriage"And my mom dropped the bombshell. I fucking knew it.

My sister dramatically dropped her ice cream bowl...ofcourse it was empty..

Huhh...I know she will never waste her ice cream no matter how serious the situation is.

"But mumma don't you think it's too early...I am 23 only and I have a lot to achieve now. It is just the beginning of my career." I tried explaining them.

"Ahaana we are just asking for your consent to search for marriage proposals. It will take time beta and we will not give your hand to any random person and I think you believe us right. We just want you to be settled and happy." Papa is seriously now playing the emotional card. Should I say yes? Fuck it! I am not prepared. Fishes are out of my reach. God fuck the fishes.

"Ok...but I need time. Don't just scare me bringing your proposals tomorrow onwards."

"There is no pressure on you beta"

"Let it be mumma. This is pressure only. And yes now I understood why did you made matar paneer without any occasion? Anyways I am going to sleep"
